Holy crap, I just go this in the mail today, I downloaded the first 10 issues last week read issue 0 and then ordered the trade. FoC kicks ass!I tend to find when most people try to adapt Lovecraft into comics, and movies for that matter, they tend to lose focus of the material and try to bend it to their needs.
FoC:TF is the story of a Cy, who's Uncle has just suddenly returned from South America, commits suicide in front of Cy and his girlfriend, and Cy descent into madness trying to find out why his Uncle did this.
Michael Nelson did a fabulous job of not only adapting Lovecraft, but twisting it enough to make it his own. Its a truly creepy and unnerving story that grips you throughout. Many times I wanted to put the book down and get a drink or something to eat, but I felt compelled to keep reading, Good job Mr Nelson.
The artwork was great too. The main story has one artist and the Dreamland parts has another, giving a great distinct to each tale, but giving you a great sense of confusion that would be apparent when you suddenly crossed over.
I am now really looking forward to the second volume, Fall of Cthulhu: The Gathering and the Cthulhu Tales trade.
Fall of Cthulhu gets a well deserved 5/5 Stars, buy it now!
