Warhammer 40k: Blood and Thunder Review

Dan Abnett hits us up with a great story into the lives of the Orks in the Warhammer 40k universe.

They are a very vicious species but do have a caste system which is kinda odd to behold, as it is strongest prevails but on their own merits. Sometimes luck plays a huge factor in moving up the ranks especially when those you are competing with get accidentally blown up.

Blood and Thunder is told through the eyes of a human caught by an Ork. As he tried to escape his captors, he inadvertently helps this Ork to slowly become leader of the Blood Axe Clan.

One complaint I read about this series is that its hard to understand what the Orks are saying. It took me a few minutes til I realized that Abnett wrote the Orks with a heavy English accent which made me laugh alot. I started to picture the Orks as hardcore UK football fans.

I really enjoyed Blood and Thunder, and I didn't think I really would.

4/5 stars.

PS: I should note that the Warhammer and the Warhammer 40k books are labeled on the spine as Vol 1 and Vol 2. These stories are not linked at all other then by the Warhammer name. Each one is readable by themselves.
